About Us!

We are a member of the Christian Reformed Church in North America. The Christian Reformed Church has its roots in the Protestant Reformation in the 16th century. The denomination originated in Europe and came to North America in 1857.
The Bethel Christian Reformed Church of Brockville was officially organized in January 1953. By the grace of God, we are a dedicated group of believers.
Our first church home place of worship was about 1 mile east of the City of Brockville on Highway No.2. In 1991-92 we built the present modern facilities at 117 Windsor Drive. The project was a co-operative effort of the entire church membership, which came to fruition as a result of much work and prayer, with the gracious help of God, Who overcame numerous seemingly insurmountable obstacles. To Him be the praise and honour!

CONCEPT OF MINISTRY
GOD, by His Grace, has made us to be His holy people: a joy and a delight to Him.
In thankful obedience we commit ourselves to His purpose:
"to reconcile to Himself all things,
whether things on earth, or things in heaven,
by making peace through Christ's blood, shed on the cross." (Colossians 1:20)

Therefore, with God's help, we unite in pursuing the following goals:

1.    GROWING BY GOD'S WORD: We will be a church which grows by the power of God's Word and Spirit. We have His promise that His Word will not return empty. In confidence we preach, teach, admonish, counsel and witness, expecting the Lord Jesus to give us spiritual and numerical growth.

2.    INVOLVING EVERY MEMBER: God has graciously given to every believer, regardless of age, gifts for service as well as the responsibility to effectively and humbly use them. God calls us to identify, encourage and develop our gifts, so that we will be equipped for fruitful Christian service to God and others.

3.    PROMOTING FELLOWSHIP WITHIN THE BODY: We will interact with one another as a family in an attitude of warmth, fellowship and hospitality. We will get to know one another's spiritual needs and build one another up in the Lord. We will demonstrate our trustworthiness and entrust ourselves to one another, without prejudice, as members of Christ's body.

4.    ACCEPTING NEWCOMERS: Our fellowship will demonstrate our unity as Christ's family. Our worship will be open and designed to make visitors welcome. These visitors will be identified and followed up, in order to invite them to receive Christ and find a place in our congregation. New members will be assimilated into our part or the body of Christ in order to become active participants.

5.    STUDYING THE BIBLE: Only through God's Word are we equipped for every good work. We will provide and encourage biblical instruction for all age levels of members, so that we are led to know God through a personal faith in Jesus Christ, in trained, thankful and obedient living before Him. This Bible study should take place both personally and in groups, both in home and church.

6.     CARING FOR THE NEEDY: Mercy and compassion characterized our Saviour's dealings with people. We too are sensitive to the mental, emotional and physical needs of those who are suffering in every way. We will work to bear each other's burdens, beginning with those who belong to the family of God, but not limiting ourselves to them.

7.    TRAINING FOR WITNESS TO THE WORLD: Christ commanded us to make disciples. We believe evangelism is at the heart of the church's purpose here on earth. Each member will be equipped to witness in word and deed in everyday life, as he is gifted, utilizing natural human relationships, and each member will be stimulated to promote Christian action and values in all areas of life, so that people may believe in Christ as Saviour and serve and obey Him as Lord through our witness. (Matthew 28:19, 20)

8.    WORSHIP OF GOD: Our earnest desire will be to gather joyfully and regularly to celebrate and praise God's love, power and grace. In our worship God speaks to us in the proclamation of the Word and through the holy sacraments. We respond in repentance and faith, using songs of adoration with appropriate musical accompaniment which promotes and enhances worship, heartfelt prayers, confident confessions and grateful offerings.

9.   MAINTENANCE OF FACILITIES: It is our desire and intent to maintain church facilities that are attractive to the congregation and community, and that enable the congregation to carry out its purpose and goals, and to encourage additional appropriate uses that serve community needs
